Our Cashmere raw material is GCS certified which is referred to be traceable and sustainable and cruelty-free cashmere.
•The Good Cashmere Standard is formed by the Aid by Trade Foundation, setting a new benchmark for the production of sustainable cashmere in Inner Mongolia.
•The Standard incorporates the Five Freedoms as defined by the Farm Animal Welfare Council. The Good Cashmere Standard follows three main principles: promote animal welfare in cashmere production, support cashmere farmers to secure a sustainable source of income and protect the environment.
CASHMERE GRADES
As one of the most valuable natural products on the market, it should come as no surprise that the quality of cashmere wool varies on everything from the region it is sourced, the season, and even the age, size, and type of Cashmere goat it is sourced from. Cashmere grades help determine the quality of the cashmere, as defined by the thickness and length of hairs on the fiber. The grades range from A to C, with A being the highest quality, and most expensive. As cashmere is known for its lightweight, soft properties, the highest-grade cashmere will feel the softest and will be better at retaining its shape, so it is well worth the investment compared to its cheaper counterparts.
GRADE A:
The highest quality cashmere as the fibers will both be the longest and finest. The diameter of the fibers can be as low as 13.5-15.5 microns, with a length of 34- 38mm. We always use the highest Grade cashmere in our products to ensure an exceptional and beautiful product that will last forever.
GRADE B:
This will be thicker, and not as soft as Grade A, with a diameter of 19 microns. This is still considered a high-grade cashmere but will be noticeably less valuable and durable compared to Grade A.
GRADE C:
This is the lowest quality grade for cashmere, as the fibers are much thicker with a diameter of around 30 microns. This is much cheaper than the other grades, and will not feel as soft.
Things You Might Want to Know About Cashmere:
- Cashmere is actually a type of wool... BUT: Only the finest and softest fiber combed from the undercoats of a certain kind of goat- Cashmere Goat can call CASHMERE. Otherwise, the rest of them are all just WOOL.
- 4 Cashmere Goats = 1 Sweater: Each cashmere goat typically produces just 150 g - 200 g of fibers, and it takes approximately 4-5 adult-sized goats to make one 100% cashmere sweater. Part of what makes cashmere so exclusive is that... it is only harvested from goats once a year.
- Sweater pilling is NATURAL: Pilling is a natural occurrence in cashmere and is usually caused by friction. Follow the cashmere care steps below to take care of your sweaters properly.
- Handwash cashmere sweaters with your shampoo: Our care label is "dry clean only," but hand-washing your cashmere sweater will actually make it softer over time. We recommend using baby shampoo, it works like magic!
- Always Fold Your Cashmere: It's best to store your cashmere in a box with cedar mothballs or chips as opposed to hanging it up. Hanging your cashmere for long periods of time can change its shape. The ideal area for storage should be a cool, dark, and dry place.
